New Year's Eve: What Does My Make Up Look Like?

Many people throw a party on New Year's Eve and below is how I would wear my make up to a standard New Year's party. You know which one I'm talking about, the one with all of the sequins and the glitter. There are many ways that you can do it and this is how I thought would be a cute way to do it.

Tip: If you're going to try this, do it the day before and see if you like it on your face before you decide to wear it because if you do not like it, don't do it before you run out of time.

Protecting Your Lips

One of the things that happens to everyone during the Fall and Winter is the awful chapped lips catastrophe. Some people think that if they chew the skin off of their lips and it goes really smooth that they are helping their lips. DO NOT DO THAT. When you peal the skin off of your lips, you are exposing the weaker skin to the sun and that causes more damage to your lips than the actual chapped skin itself.

Many brands of lip balm will say that they protect your lips, some that I have tried do, others don't. One of the products that I use every day, even in the Spring and Summer is the

Bliss Fabulips - I got my first thing of it this time last year and I have used it every day since I got it. It is a key in my everyday make up routine and I keep one in my purse. I love the smell and the way that it makes my lips feel really soft.

On those days that my lips are feeling really bad I use a normal Chapstick in the original formula because they work better than the ones that have the flavors or scents - at least from Chapstick. I also use a lip salve from Lush or Burt's Bee's. I however do not like the Burt's Bee's everyday lip balm. I find that it doesn't work as well as some of the others.

I haven't tried the EOS lip balm but I hear great things about it. I will probably pick one up next time I see one and try it and let you guys know how it compares to my Fablulips.

Fall Trends: Nail Polish

Hey Beauties!

One of the things that always makes me feel like I'm spot on with the trends is updating my nail polish. One of my favorite colors for Fall that I always go back to is We'll Always Have Paris by OPI. I know that everyone rants and raves about that color, but it is such an odd color with the contrast of my skin that it always looks like a new color to me.

Some of the other colors that I like are:

  • Yodle Me On My Cell - OPI
  • Rubble For Your Thoughts - OPI
  • Live and Let Die - OPI
  • Skyfall - OPI
  • The Spy Who Loved Me - OPI
  • Russian Navy - OPI
As we can all see, I like OPI a lot. It's not because others like it or anything, due to personal experience China Glaze and a few of the other brands flake off of my nails really quickly. If you have any suggestions on a different brand that you really like, let me know in the comments.

Style: Most Summer Staples Together

This is one style this summer that should be great and you should get many compliments on wearing it! First you put your shirt dress on as a base, it's going to start off plain and that's alright. Most of the shirt dresses that you find are going to be blue and white pin stripes. You are then going to begin layering the accents to it on. You will add on the fedora and the jewelry according to the color of the hat. If the hat is simply brown like the sandals you will add on, you can go for a pop of pink or any other bright color that you feel like adding.

Style: Shirt Dress

Shirt Dresses aren't going anywhere and I think that everyone needs to have at least one in their closet. It is a nice feminine thing that many women would look nice in. You can throw one on with a pair of cute sandals, a belt to bring the waist in - you could even add a pop of color with the belt if you think that your dress is too bland - and a nice tote.

Style: Fedora

Everyone always says that hats are over rated or cliche and they can be, if they are styled wrong. There are many ways that you can style them. Ashley Tisdale is one of the many celebs that you see walking around Hollywood sporting a fedora. You can dress them up or down.

Dress Up:
You can wear a fedora with a cute solid dress from somewhere like Abercrombie or Hollister, possibly Forever21. You're going to need to have a dress that it tight fitting around the bodice so that it looks more put together. Style it with a solid colored dress, some strappy sandals and your bold fedora.

Dress Down:
You can easily throw on a fedora on with a T-Shirt, a simple pair of flip flops, shorts and then your fedora.

Product Review: Aveeno Tinted Moistuizer

Whenever I get into the Spring and Summer months, I like to let me skin breath and wear really soft light make up. During the colder months, I have a heavy cream moisturizer from Dior. When I was at the store I decided that I would pick up a new tinted moisturizer, just to try. I love this moisturizer, it has good coverage and SPF. I don't think that there is any other tinted moisturizer that I have used that I like as much as I like this one.

Product Review: Conair Curling Wand

I thought that when everyone told me that a curling wand would make better curls for my hair and make them last longer, I thought that they where crazy! My two inch curling wand makes pretty curls. My sister has a curling wand at her house and while I was there this past weekend, so I decided to use it. I can honestly say that the curls that the wand put forward stayed in my hair for two days and they didn't break or fall or anything. I love this wand a lot. If you want a good curling wand, this is the one for you.

Product Review: Sally Hansen Press on Nails

I was so excited when I was walking through Target the other night and found the press on nail polish. They advertise it as quick and easy, you press it on and then you're done. Wrong! That is not how it was for me. I couldn't get them to stick onto my nails, they didn't have the right size for my nails. It was all wrong. I don't know if it was me, or the nail polish or what it was but it wasn't happening for me!

Let me know what you guys think about the nail polish and if you want me to do more reviews.

Product Review: DDF Moisturizer

Oh My God! I've had this moisturizer for a while and I thought I had run out and then I found it! It's like the angels are singing when I apply it to my skin. I makes my skin feel so soft and it has SPF in it so it helps my annoyingly red face, not get any redder. I love this moisturizer and I would recommend it to anyone that wanted a light moisturizer that works!

I love it!

Trends, Trends, Trends!

Every season has a new set of trends, but we can't always run out and buy the full line of whatever new is out. There are easy ways to incorporate trends into your wardrobe without breaking your bank, or your parents.

If you don't know if you like a trend try with a few pieces of jewlery to see if you like the way that it looks. That's an easy, not to mention cheap, way to bring all of the trends into your wardrobe.

Buy a scarf if you're out and it goes with a trend you like. You can find stores that sell things that go with a trend that aren't straight off of the runway.

How To: Style Bright Denim

We all have at least one pair of bright or off colored pair of jeans. We all think that the easiest way to style them is to put on a simple white shirt and some brown shoes and go, well that's not always true.

Say you have a top that has numerous colors on it and you haven't worn it in a while but one of the colors matches the color of your jeans, don't be afraid to put them on together.

Or maybe you have a mesh top that goes with the color of your jeans, put those together!

Don't be afraid to take a fashion risk, it may just pay off.

Mint, Tangerine and Pastels, Oh my!

So it seems that this spring, the new thing is to wear colors that are dulled down a little bit. We've got Mint Green, Tangerine, Pastels; if you have any light color in your closet you can bet that it will fit right in with this trend.

The problem for most, is that since it hasn't been a reaccuring trend, we don't know how to style it. Well, that's where I come in! I have a few different ways that you can incorporate the colors into your wardrobe.

These colors are going to look good with just about anything and look good on various skin tones. You can style them in pants if you are feeling brave that day, or you can put on a pair of mint green ear-rings if you want to still be with the trend, but you don't love it.

Spring's New Fling: Fresh, Glowing Skin

We all want to be ready to burst into Spring, already knowing the trends and how to achieve them. One of my favorites is the Radiant Skin, because it's a good thing to have without it being a trend. We all want to have skin that looks perfect and lucky for us, this year it's a trend.

There are two main looks that I have noticed, one is the Gold-ish face and the other is the bronze-ish tent.

How To: Gold

1.) You need to prep your skin, using one of your favorite moisturizer.
2.) Apply a Foundation Primer to help keep all of the products on your face on it and to keep them from smearing or running before they set.
3.) Drop a few drops of a liquid luminizer into your foundation, or in my case, tented moisturizer.
4.) With a flat fountaion brush, apply a few, light handed sweeps of the mix along your cheek bones, down your nose, along your cupid's bow, a tiny bit on your brow bones down to the top of your cheekbones in a "C" motion.
5.) Sweep a nude colored blush along the apples of your cheeks with a regular powder brush.

How To: Bronze

1.) Prep your skin with your favorite moisturizer.
2.) Apply a foundation primer to keep your make up on all day.
3.) Mix a few drops of liquid luminizer into your foundation or tinted moisturizer.
4.) Sweep an illuminating bronzer along the bridge of your nose, across the highs of your cheek bones, the top of your chin, cupid's bow and eyebrows.
5.) Brush a bronzing powder in a E3 formation. Start at the hairline, along your cheek bones and down to your jaw.
6.) With a light hand dust a bronzer from your cheek bones down to the bridge of your nose.

Keep in mine that you will get different out-comings based on the shade of your skin. (I got most of this information from sephora.com. I also used some of the run way choices.)

Hunger Games by China Glaze

From best selling book to soon to be Movie of the Year, The Hunger Games are now nail polish..? I've read the books, counted down 'till the movie's release and now am dying to get my hands on these colors! They are magnificent, as you can see above. China Glaze doesn't disappoint with this collection, every color along with the name goes right along with the district that it belongs to. As of right now the only place that I know of that has the colors in stock - in stores - and is selling them is Hot Topic. Keep an open mind, the store had EVERYTHING Hunger Games, from Jelwery down to socks.

Between Classy and Trash

As we all probably know, there is a thin line between looking nice and looking like you try too hard. There is always that one girl that we all know that wears too much make up, or her clothes are too tight that everyone talks about behind her back. No one want's to be that girl and here is how we all make sure that we aren't her.

Make Up:
1) Always use a light hand when applying anything. (Even smokey eyes look bad when they are too dark.)
2) If you look at it and think that it's too dark, it is.
3) Don't go over board with the colors, a pop here and there is fine... Just not everywhere.

Clothes:
1) Make sure to try the item on in the store, even if you think that it will fit.
2) When your stomach starts to hang out of the bottom of your favorite tee, replace it because it is TOO SMALL.

Tips to help you stay classy:

Make up:
1) Try using colors that are within the shade of your skin colors, or even a shade or two lighter.
2) When you are trying to have a pop of color, don't make it too bold. No one thinks that it's cute.

Clothes:
1) Even though the sales associate tells you that its cute on you, even though it's not your size, ask your friends. They wont lie to you.
2) Make sure that you are relaxed and comfortable in the clothes that you're wearing, because when you are comfortable it boosts your confidence and it will show on the outside. People will want to talk to you and be around you when you are confident.
